Portes du Soleil
Welcome to Morgins in the Portes du Soleil.
The Portes du Soleil is the name given to a collection of twelve interlinked skiing resorts in France and Switzerland.
A single ski pass gives access to a massive 650 kms of pisted runs and innumerable off-piste areas serviced by 212 lifts.
Most of the resorts are within two hours of Geneva and, apart from the purpose built resorts such as Avoriaz, most are farming villages that have succeeded in retaining their charm and character despite their conversion into skiing towns.
Morgins is one of the most attractive villages in the Portes du Soleil. It is small, intimate, full of traditional Swiss alpine charm, and the perfect choice for a summer or winter self catering holiday. Only 75 mins from the airport, it is very easily reached by car (or train with a taxi from Aigle).
As soon as you arrive, you are aware of the character and friendliness of the village. It is still a farming village and lies in a quiet valley amid pine-clad slopes, staunchly resisting the lure of commercialism and high rise apartment development.
It has a dozen restaurants, several excellent hire shops, a wonderful ski school and a nightclub.
